Dr. Ashvini Reddy is internationally recognized for her expertise in uveitis and complex retinal disorders. As the founder and director of Athena Eye Institute in San Antonio, Texas, she leads a patient-centered ophthalmology practice focused on advanced diagnostics, long-term care, and meaningful doctor-patient relationships.
A Distinguished Medical Background
​​Dr. Reddy completed her undergraduate studies with honors at the University of Texas at Austin, followed by medical school, internship, residency, and a postdoctoral research fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. She later trained at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute—the #1 ranked eye hospital in the U.S.—for her ophthalmology fellowship.
Her academic and clinical leadership continued with faculty roles at the University of Virginia (as Director of Uveitis and Ocular Inflammation) and Johns Hopkins Hospital, before returning to Texas in 2019 to launch Athena Eye Institute.

​Dr. Reddy has authored more than 100 scientific publications, including research articles, case reports, and book chapters. She has been invited to present at over 40 national and international conferences and serves as a peer reviewer for leading journals like JAMA Ophthalmology and the American Journal of Ophthalmology.
She partners with leading industry innovators such as Bausch + Lomb, Heidelberg Engineering, and Eyepoint Pharmaceuticals, and volunteers with Retina Global to combat global blindness.

Education and Professional Recognition
A dedicated educator, Dr. Reddy has chaired the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Online Education Committee and contributes to physician training through the ONE Network. Her honors include the AAO Secretariat Award (2016) and Achievement Award (2018). She is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists.
